Seeking a Stage Manager for Children’s Musical Theater Production


We are seeking an energetic team player with experience in theater production and a passion for children to serve as a Stage Manager/Director Assistant for Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theater’s (MVCCT) 2019 fall production.  


This individual will:

  • Assist at rehearsals by ensuring that all actors are on task both on and off the stage, and help the production team with attendance and other logistics.

  • Work with the directors, designers and other production staff to stage and move  sets, assist with lighting, props, and other elements; manage backstage parent volunteers and teen runners; and work with producers and front of house parent volunteers to create a quality theater experience for the cast, crew, and audiences.

  • Work with the directors and designers to document stage directions, sets, and other production elements and communicate expectations and etiquette to actors in a nurturing learning environment.

  • Work with producers and directors to ensure that accurate and timely communication is shared with actors and their families.



  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive, safe, and productive learning experience for a large groups of children

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with theater production team(s)

  • Experience coordinating sets, lights, props, and people

  • Available for rehearsals, Tech Week, and all productions according to the schedule below

  • Attend formal and informal production meetings

  • Positive yet firm disposition to create and maintain positive relationships with actors, families, and the public


Audition Dates: September 9, 10, 12

Performance Dates: November 15 to 17 and 22 to 24 (6 performances total)

Drama Teacher (ongoing) - Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre is always looking for fun and engaging teaching artists for our after school theatre classes, spring break and summer camps and our ever expanding educational endeavors.  Commitments vary from one afternoon a week for an 8-10 week period for our after school classes, to all day for two weeks at a time for our longer summer camps.  Applicants should have a bachelors degree in Theatre and experience working with children.  For more information please e-mail resume to Rachel at rachel.mvcct@gmail.com.
