MVCCT's Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Design Contest!

MVCCT invites young artists of all ages to design Joseph's "Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" for our upcoming production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (April 1-10, 2016).  The winning design will be made and worn by the lead performer in the show.  Inspiration for your design should be drawn from the following quote:


“Joseph's coat was elegant, the cut was ne, the tasteful style was the ultimate in good design. […] it caught the
eye, a king would stop and stare.
Such a stunning coat of many colors […]I t was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and
ocher and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and cream
and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and

Students of all ages are welcome to enter.

Submissions must be:
              + Created using any 2d media. (i.e. paint, pastels, mixed media, color pencils, digital etc.)
              + No larger than 18”x18” and no smaller than 8”x10”.
              + Include a copy of this application form. (click link to download .pdf)
              + Dropped off at or mailed to our offices at 1900 Elkin St. Suite 225, Alexandria, VA 22308 or e-mailed
                 to Rachel at If dropping off, please do so between the hours of 8am and
                 5pm, Monday thru Friday.


Selection Criteria
Entries will be judged upon the following criteria:
           1. Creativity
           2. Functionality – i.e. can it actually be constructed and worn on stage.
           3. Use of Color

5 entries will be selected by the MVCCT board of directors and the winning entry will be chosen through
online voting.

All entries must be received by February 14th at midnight.


First Place Winner – Design will be constructed and appear on stage during all of the Joseph performances,four free tickets to Joseph, $50 gift card to Michaels Art and Craft Store. The coat design and artist bio (withpersmission from parent(s) or guardian(s) will be featured on the MVCCT website, Facebook and our othersocial media outlets

Four Runners Up – Two free tickets to Joseph, he coat design and artist bio (with persmission from parent(s)or guardian(s) will be featured on the MVCCT website, Facebook and our other social media outlets.
