Looking for a fun, rewarding, and engaging summer camp experience?  MVCCT Summer Camp offers young people the opportunity to learn basic theatre and acting skills, rehearse and perform a short production, and develop life-long skills like public speaking, teamwork, confidence and self-esteem.

SESSION CHOICES

Two-Weeks
July 2-July 13 (no 4th of July)     |     July 30-August 10    |     August 13-24

Within the two week session, you can choose from various options:

Morning Drama Camp 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Focus is on the craft of acting, working on theatre games, exercises and improvisation, as well as rehearsal for the final showcase.
Afternoon Musical Theatre Camp 1:00 am - 4:00 pm
Led by both a director/instructor and musical director, emphasis is on preparing the performance showcase and singing and dance skills.

All Day (both Morning and Afternoon listed above) 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Add-Ons
    Before Camp Program
    8:30-9:30 am
    Light crafts and quiet play or reading time.

    After Camp Program
    4:00-6:00 pm

    Light crafts, learning lines, playground time, quiet reading time.

One-Week

July 23-27
9:00 am to 5:00 pm (all day is the only option for this week)

Actors work on developing performance skills by working on a production to be performed on final day of camp.

How old are MVCCT Summer and Spring Break Camp campers?

Campers range from ages 5-13 (rising K to rising 7th grade recommended)

What credentials do the instructors hold?

All teachers hold theatre/arts degrees and are experienced in working with children. They are working professionals or specialized instructors.

What are your student to staff ratios?

There are generally four groups of campers, grouped by age.  Generally there are 15 campers to one teacher and assistant.

What do the campers do all day?

All camps balance process and learning focus with production and performance. Basic theatre games and exercises are designed to work on specific acting craft areas, like believeability, sensory memory, communication, etc. And rehearsals teach performance skills, learning to follow directions, team building, etc. There is a showcase performed on final day of camp.

Where is camp held?
Camp is held at Heritage Presbyterian Church at 8503 Fort Hunt Road, conveniently located near the Mount Vernon Estate, 10 minutes south of Old Town, Alexandria, VA, off the George Washington Parkway.
