Vocal Auditions
Monday September 10
5:30-7:00 PM Ages 8-10*
7:00-8:30 PM Ages 11-18
Tuesday September 11
5:30-7:00 PM Ages 8-10*
7:00-8:30 PM Ages 11-18
Your child will be asked to stay the entire time. Children should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a musical theater-type song of their choice. However, this song should NOT be from the Oklahoma soundtrack. Those auditioning may sing a capella (without a piano) or with an accompanist, which is provided. Either option is perfectly fine. If the child would like to sing with accompaniment, be sure to bring sheet music. The song should be a Broadway-type, musical theatre song, not a pop or country song they might hear on the radio. If your child does not know a musical theatre song, no problem! They may sing something simple like “Happy Birthday.” In that case, they need not bring sheet music.
The auditions happen as a group, so your child will sing in front of the other children auditioning as well as the producer, director, musical director, stage manager and others involved in the production.
Dance Auditions
Thursday September 13
6:30–8:30 PM Ages 8-18*
This audition is open to children 8-18 years of age who wish to be considered for dancing roles only —there will be no need to sing at this audition. Children who attend vocal auditions MAY attend this audition as well, however, it is NOT required that they attend both. Children chosen for the vocal roles may also have dancing roles in the final performance. Those children auditioning will need to come wearing appropriate clothes for movement / sports and dance shoes if they have them (no skinny jeans, crocs or flip flops). Children will need to be there for the entire two hours. There is no need to prepare anything ahead of the audition.
Callbacks
Friday, September 14

All children auditioning must be available for the call back auditions. If needed, we will call you; please do not call the office. If you are not called back, it does not mean you will not be cast!

Rehearsals
Will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 pm-8:30 pm. Other days may be added or substituted during the rehearsal period and advance notice will be given to the cast involved. Rehearsals will be held every night during Tech Week (November 5-8) from approximately 5:30-9:00 pm. Cast members are expected to attend all rehearsals, unless they are ill, for which they are called and to be on time and prepared. Please note that three unexcused late arrivals or absences will result in re-casting. MVCCT expects that among those cast, this production will be their first priority after schoolwork.
The first rehearsal will be held on Monday September 17, from 6:30-8:30pm.
There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Tuesday, September 18th beginning at 7:00pm at Bryant. A parent is required to attend this meeting.

Fees
MVCCT is a non-profit organization and private fundraising efforts and government grants cover only a portion of our expenses. There is a participation fee of $200 for those cast, which is due at the parent meeting on Tuesday September 18. Other incidental expenses to anticipate include purchasing a show tee shirt and the cast party fee. Need-based scholarships are available.
Parents are expected to volunteer with both pre-production (costume collection/construction; set construction/painting; poster distribution, etc) and in- production (helping backstage; makeup; cast party, etc) activities. Without your valuable help, this show wouldn’t happen. Don’t fear – it’s fun!!
To ensure the best show possible, and to be fair to all who audition, please be sure you are you can commit to these guidelines.
MVCCT expects that among those cast, Oklahoma! will be their first priority after schoolwork.
RELAX, HAVE FUN AND DO YOUR BEST !!!
* Please note that children must be 8 years old on the date of their audition. No exceptions are made to this requirement.

FAQ About Auditioning
Who can audition for productions?
Any child who falls into the age range for a particular production may audition. Typically the fall and spring musicals feature 40-45 children ages eight to eighteen, and the teen production (non-musical) features 12-20 twelve to eighteen year olds. Children must be 8 by the day of auditions for the musicals and 12 by the day of auditions for the teen show. No exceptions are able to be made on this minimum age requirement.
What happens at auditions?
Those auditioning for musicals are asked to sing 16 bars of a prepared song. An accompanist is available if you wish to bring sheet music. Those auditioning may also be asked to demonstrate some movement or dance and may read from the script or other text. You will be asked to stay for the entire period of your audition (e.g. 5:30-7:00 pm). Do not sing a song from the show you are auditioning for.
What are callbacks?
Often directors want to see a group of actors again. If your child is called back, it does not necessarily indicate that they will be cast. If your child is not called back, it not an indication of whether they will be cast or not.
Is there a fee for participating?
MVCCT charges a participation fee for each child for each show. The participation fee is used to offset the cost of renting rehearsal and performance space, director and stage manager salaries, costumes, sets and other expenses. The fee averages $200 per child.
Are there forms to fill out?
There is now an online registration form for anyone wishing to audition. Additionally, there is a Parent Acknowledgement Form which must be signed and brought to auditions.
What else should we bring?
In addition to the Parent Acknowledgement Form, please bring a photograph of your child. Sometimes more than 150 children audition, so the photograph is a way to help those casting to remember your child. It doesn't need to be a professional photograph, a simple snapshot is sufficient.
Are scholarships available?
MVCCT is committed to making its programs accessible to all. If your child is cast and needs financial aid, please ask the Producer for a Scholarship Application.
